POLICE have been patrolling near a school following reports of a man attempting to upskirt a pupil.
South Wilts Grammar School received reports of a lone man attempting to look up one of its pupil's skirts in Victoria Park at the end of the school day earlier this week.
Wiltshire Police officers, both in uniform and plain clothes, have been present within the school following the allegations.
In a letter seen by the Journal, the school said there have been no further incidents but officers will continue to patrol in the coming weeks.
Deputy head and designated safeguarding lead Jill Bellamy told parents: "We do hope that this letter does not cause alarm; incidents such as this are extremely rare.
"We will continue to work with local police to prioritise the safety of all members of the SWGS community."
Pupils have been advised to stay in groups where possible, avoid confrontation, call 999 immediately if a crime takes place and photograph the offender if possible.
They should also note the time, date, location, description of the individual and exactly what happened.
If any student recalls a similar incident or concern that they may have experienced but not reported, reports can be made online by visiting wiltshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour.
South Wilts Grammar School and Wiltshire Police have been contacted for further information.
