AS 2023 comes to a close we took a look back at Ofsted ratings for schools throughout the year and put together a list of educational premises that received a 'good' or 'outstanding' rating.
Schools are inspected for the quality of education, personal development, leadership and management and behaviour and attitudes and teachers and staff work hard all year.
Exeter House Special School
The school retained its 'Good' rating on the days of inspection - Monday June 14 and Tuesday, June 15. Ofsted said that 'every pupil is seen as individual and unique in this school' and 'pupils arrive at school full of joy and anticipation for the day ahead.'
The report also complimented the school's efforts to prepare pupils for progression in respect of future training courses or employment.
Sheiling School
Ofsted inspectors gave Sheiling School in Ringwood, an ‘Outstanding’ rating. The school specialises in educating pupils with communication difficulties, autism, complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
The report stated that residential staff were aspirational and exceptional progress was confirmed by parents.

Woodlands Primary School
Woodlands Primary School on Bemerton Heath received a ‘Good’ rating following an Ofsted inspection which took place on Tuesday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 17. The school received the rating in all five categories of evaluation.
The report stated that Woodlands Primary is a 'highly inclusive school' that 'pupils feel proud to attend.'
Wellington Lions Primary Academy
The academy in Tidworth was praised for putting into practice the values of the curious child and was awarded a 'Good' in the Ofsted inspection.
The report also praised the carefully mapped out curriculum and on the welcoming approach to new pupils.
Hillside Community School
Ofsted chose to retain the rating of 'Good' for Hillside Community First School.
A school in Verwood received positive comments from Ofsted as inspectors praised programmes encouraging children to learn responsibility and to foster a productive learning environment as well as 'staff providing creative media, gardening and a variety of sports clubs.'

Chilmark Primary School
The school received a ‘Good’ in all areas in Ofsted's report and had high expectations of pupils and a desire to see them shine.
Ofsted stated in its report that 'the school supports pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. Their needs are identified precisely and teaching is adapted effectively.'
St Nicholas Church of England school
The school in Porton received a 'Good' rating in May when inspectors visited.
The report said: 'Pupils thrive at this friendly and welcoming school. They are well cared for by staff, who take the time to develop respectful and positive relationships with pupils.'
Fordingbridge Junior School
A SCHOOL in Fordingbridge received a 'Good' grading with two out of the four main areas reviewed as 'outstanding.'
The report stated 'Leaders have high expectations for all pupils. They want to nurture the whole child and give them the tools needed to be successful individuals.'
Kindred Odstock School
The school received a rating of 'Outstanding' in all categories of evaluation.
Inspectors said the school led an effective programme that facilitated learning through free play, with staff designing activities to 'maximise children’s enjoyment and enhance their development.
Bemerton St John Church of England Primary School
Bemerton St John's Church of England school was inspected on Tuesday, May 16 and on Wednesday, May 17. The school maintained its Good rating with the inspector saying it would be judged 'outstanding' if given a graded inspection.
The Ofsted report said 'pupils love learning, are excited to attend the school and that pupils behaviour is exemplary.'
