English Heritage has announced that it will be live-streaming the Winter Solstice from Stonehenge.
The Winter Solstice this year will fall on Friday, December 22, with people allowed access to the car park and café from 5.15am and the public invited to walk amongst the stones from 7.45am to 10am. Sunrise will take place just after 8am.
Parking at the Stonehenge Visitor Centre will be charged at £5 per car and £2 per motorbike, with a shuttle provided from the visitor centre to the monument.
Visitors can also take a 25-minute walk to the stones.
Scott Ashman, English Heritage’s head of historic properties at Stonehenge, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming people to solstice once again this year, whether you are planning to watch from the comfort of home, or brave the cold and join us in person.
"If you plan on making the journey to Stonehenge, please car share if possible or take the bus, as there is very limited parking on site.
And please remember that Stonehenge is a scheduled ancient monument, considered by many to be a sacred place, and celebrating solstice here is a very special time for many who attend.
"We want to ensure that everyone who joins us for this celebration has a great experience and a safe and enjoyable visit to Stonehenge, and as always, we ask everybody to please respect the stones.”
