With the festive period here already, many of us will be looking at restaurants and pubs for somewhere to eat at over Christmas with friends and family in Salisbury.

If you don't fancy the stress of making dinner at home, there also some great places in and around Salisbury that will be hosting special Christmas meals on the day itself.

Railway Inn/The Dust Hole

The pub with two names currently has 10 spaces left for people to dine with them on Christmas day.

Their three-course meals with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are £35 for adults and £18.50 for children.

If you are a fan of chutney you’re in for a treat with brie bites on the menu poured in cranberry chutney.

The main is made up of a variety of meat including roast turkey breast, roast pork loin, roast sirloin of beef and even nut roast with cranberries.

For pudding is a selection of unique puddings including homemade Granny B’s Christmas pudding with an added touch of brandy sauce.

The Ox Row Inn

At the moment Ox Row Inn has limited availability left for Christmas day with 14 customers able to book a table.

The three-course menu costs £99 per person.

Half of the starters have vegan options such as the curried parsnip soup and the goat’s cheese and shallot tarte.

Only one of the five mains is vegan and vegetarian including spiced cauliflower wellington, on the upside all mains are served with roasted potatoes and seasonable vegetables.

All puddings have a vegan option and there are also chocolate truffles to have afterwards with your tea and coffee if you choose to.

Market Inn

Address: 16 Butcher Row, Salisbury SP1 1EP

The Market Inn is fully seated for Christmas already but you can still get your peckish hands on their well-priced menu beforehand.

They will be serving an array of two-course meals (£27) and three-course meals (£35).

There are no specific dietary options on the traditional Christmas menu for starters and mains but below it, there is a caption which says “For dietary requirements and food allergies please ask a member of our team for assistance.”

For pudding, you’ll have to wait to see what’s on their blackboard if you decide to pop into the pub as it remains a surprise for your eyes.

The Wheatsheaf

Address: The Wheatsheaf, Lower Woodford, Salisbury SP4 6NQ

The restaurant in Lower Woodford has sold out to its 200 seating allocation for Christmas Day itself this year and next year.

But if you still fancy trying out the menu on another day, the Christmas menu will be running all through December, priced at £32.95 for three meals.

All starters have a concoction of either gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan apart from Devon Crab and Mascarpone which has neither.

The go-to roast turkey on the main menu comes with a gluten-free choice.

In the pudding section is the special winter crème brulee made only at this time of year.

The Chapter House

The pub is filled for Christmas day however they still have a worthwhile menu packed with delicious punches running for the rest of this month. 

Their Christmas party menu costs £27.95 Monday to Wednesday for two courses or £32.95 for three. 

Thursday to Sunday two courses cost £29.95, and three courses are £34.95. 

Choose from spiced lentil and butternut soup, home-cured salmon gravadlax, beetroot carpaccio, goat’s cheese mousse, potted pork terrine, wild mushrooms on toasted sourdough or spinach and aged parmesan -for starters.

Mains are either roast turkey, 8oz aged sirloin steak, pan-roasted pesto salmon or stuffed bell peppers,

For dessert pick from apple tart, Christmas pudding, Chocolate brownie or lemon tart, or a selection of local market cheeses, crackers and chutney.
