Plain brown paper used for presents can go in the clear recycling sack. Most gift-wrapping paper cannot be recycled as it contains some plastic and foil. Greetings cards can be re-used to create gift tags for the next year, or can be recycled.
Remove ribbons or sticky tape prior to recycling. Empty plastic bottles can go in the clear recycling sack and this includes cleaning bottles, milk and toiletries.
Glass box or communal bin collections
There are some changes to glass box or communal bin collections.
If the usual collection date for glass would be due Monday, December 25, it will be collected on Saturday, December 30.

Christmas trees
From Sunday, December 31 to Sunday, January 14, real Christmas trees can be taken to one of the drop-off points across the district and the tree will be recycled. The tree will be chipped to create mulch used to keep moisture around plant roots and as a preventative measure for weeds.
Any trees left at unauthorised sites or by litter bins, will be treated as fly-tipping.
Garden waste bags
Garden waste collections will be paused for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year. No collections will take place from Monday, December 25 to Sunday, January 7. Collections will resume from Monday, January 8.
Additional recycling and rubbish can be taken to a community recycling bank or to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRCs) which are owned by Hampshire County Council and closed on Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26 and Monday, January 1.
