A DRAMA club is staging a classic Christmas fairytale shortly after celebrating its 50th year.
Hansel and Gretel by Norman Robbins is this year's Christmas production at the Coombe Bissett and Homington Drama Club.
The pantomime runs from Wednesday, December 6, to Saturday, December 9, and it is the directorial debut for Kirstie Millward and Clare Green, who can usually be found treading the boards themselves.
The drama club itself has recently celebrated its 50th year with a big party, and two beautiful colourful volumes of stories and pictures celebrating all past performances. These have been the hard work of musical director Tim Price.
Hansel and Gretel is a classic Christmas fairytale, but one that hasn't been done on stage by this club before. It's a funny, festive family pantomime with all the classic characters
A spokesperson for the drama club said: "Set in the village of Pumpernickle, the Forest Fairy and Attrocia the Witch battle for the villagers.
"Attrocia builds the gingerbread house to entice the children, Hansel & Gretel, but events stop short before they are eaten, although the witch gets her just dessets!
"Full of fun, comedy routines and laughter, this is family entertainment at its best."
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children and can still be purchased by calling the box office on 01722 741354.
