TRAIN passengers were left delayed and disappointed after attempting to use the service during a strike day while remaining crews battled a landslip.
South Western Railway reported heavy rain had caused a landslip dangerously close to the railway line at Crewkerne tunnel on Monday, December 4.
While this affected trains heading west to Exeter, other passengers travelling to Salisbury felt the impact of the ASLEF union's industrial action.

Teresa and her husband Keith Beeson ditched their plans to visit Bath's Christmas market since two consecutive trains to the city were cancelled due to a lack of crew.
The pair had driven to the Beehive Park and Ride from Shipton Bellinger but settled on Salisbury's Christmas offering rather than chancing another train.
Mr Beeson said he felt "frustrated" because he bought the £14.50 tickets that morning and he was worried he'd be left out of pocket by the travel company.
"Being a strike day they must've known that there would be disruption. Why sell the tickets?" he added.
Swathi Vuddanda intended to catch a train back to Andover but three of them were cancelled due to staff shortages.
Instead, she had to catch a replacement bus at 1pm but she was originally due home before 12 noon.
Janet Brady braved the train from Andover to Salisbury and faced delays after her first train was cancelled and the second one arrived 40 minutes late, getting her to Salisbury at 11.45am.
"It's messed up our plans. We were due to arrive at 10.15am and it would've been just 20 minutes in the car," she said.
While the Andover resident regularly visits the city, today's bad experience has put her off using the service in the future.
