A SUBSTANTIAL delivery of Christmas gifts and goodies was sent to the Salvation Army charity collecting gifts for those in need.
The gifts came from members of the 14th Regiment, Royal Artillery, Ist Battery based in Larkhill. Bombardiers Joe Smith and Robin Duncan delivered the array of presents collected from members of the regiment, family, and friends to the charity’s headquarters on Salt Lane.
Leader of the Salisbury Salvation Army Church and Community Hub, Captain Martin Davison said: “It was a lovely surprise to receive this special delivery of items.
“We have received more requests than ever for support this year, so this was just what we needed to prepare for our busy time of Christmas deliveries.”

Captain Davison confirmed that many groups including health care professionals, social and family workers and housing welfare officers distribute the presents.
For those who would like to support the Salisbury Christmas Gift Appeal, there is still time to contribute as the initiative continues until December 23 when the final deliveries are made.
New and unwrapped gifts can be sent to the Salvation Army on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday from 10am to 1pm or delivered to the Salisbury Journal office.
The Salvation Army Band will be playing Christmas carols in the city centre each Saturday until Christmas Eve when they lead community carol singing in the Guildhall Square organized by Salisbury City Council.
