THE LIST of prime locations for the new police station for South Wiltshire has been whittled down to just two potential sites according to Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Philip Wilkinson.
Four sites had been considered previously and included land joined with Salisbury District Hospital, land at Old Sarum, land at Fugglestone Road, and land near High Post, near Amesbury.
PCC Philip Wilkinson addressed councillors about crime statistics at the area board meeting on Tuesday, November 28, and then, pre-empted a query from councillors for an update for a Salisbury police station location.

"We have still got two sites we are pushing for. One is at The High Post and the other one is at Old Sarum. We are struggling with what is called 'biodiversity net gain' which is that a piece of property is assessed for its biodiversity value and we have had to revalue the land.
Both sites have had to be re-negotiated in terms of price with developers.
He said: "It is driving me nuts and I am driving everyone else nuts."
Ongoing negotiations for a new site means Salisbury will have to wait longer than expected for a decision.
