An analysis performed by online casino Luck.com has determined that Salisbury has the “fourth best night out in the UK”.

The criteria that placed Salisbury in the top five for nightlife were the number of bars and clubs (31 per 100,000 people), the number of pubs (172 per 100,000 people), a safety score for walking home alone at night (72 out of 100), the average cost of beer (£3.50 per half-litre) and the average cost of a meal at McDonald’s (£6.19), giving the city an overall score of 67 out of 100.

Salisbury was beaten by Truro (70.35 out of 100), Lichfield (69.4 out of 100) and Wrexham (67.83 out of 100), which all beat the Cathedral City in the categories of bars, clubs and pubs per capita, with Lichfield boasting a whopping 435 pubs per 100,000 people.

The accolade of fourth-best British nightlife comes despite most of Salisbury’s nightlife establishments having a closing time of 3am or earlier, compared to nearby Bournemouth, where some nightclubs are licensed to remain open until 6am.

Salisbury was followed in the ratings by Durham (65.17 out of 100), Chester (62.68 out of 100), Derby and Bradford (both with a score of 60.77 out of 100).
