A PUB that needed 'major improvement' has achieved the highest food hygiene rating which the boss says is a "testament to the hardworking team".
The Penruddocke Arms, in Dinton, was revisited by the Food Standards Agency on Friday, November 3.
Director Dilip Agarwala was handed a 'very good' hygiene score of five after an environmental health officer inspected the pub's kitchen and cellar.
The re-inspection was requested after the pub was given a score of one out of five on July 20.
Andre Smith, who obtained the pub in May 2023, said the first inspector visited when the kitchen was undergoing a deep clean.
"Sadly the initial inspection was poorly timed on a day we usually clean, although we concede we would not have gotten a five-star on that day regardless," he said.
The 35-year-old pub director said he has invested in improving and updating the washroom area and given staff more training.
He added: "We are very happy with the five-star rating, especially with the Christmas run-up ahead and the launch of our carvery service this Sunday.
"The rating is a testament to the efforts of our hardworking team."
While the Food Standards Agency website has not yet been updated to reflect the new score, Mr Smith shared a report of the latest inspection with the Journal.
