THESE three people were recently sentenced for crimes they committed.

The defendants were either registered to an address near Salisbury or committed an offence in Salisbury.

Aaron Middleton, 38, of Larkhill, was found guilty of assaulting his then-partner Amanda Simmons by beating her on December 28, 2022.

Preston Magistrates Court ordered Middleton, who is part of the 47 Regiment Royal Artillery, to pay £2,127 which included a £1,269 fine, £508 surcharge and £350 costs.

When deciding his sentence, the court considered the impact it would have on Middleton's army career, the remorse he demonstrated and how the parties worked together to ensure the welfare of their children was paramount.

The court also heard how this was an isolated incident in a 14-year relationship.

The Army confirmed it would provide the support that probation would have given Middleton if he was given a community order.
