ACTORS at the Studio Theatre are taking on a groundbreaking play which takes place in New York in 1980.
Last Summer at Bluefish Cove takes place in October and tells the story of seven friends who take refuge at the cove - a secret seaside haven where they can live and love freely.

Studio Theatre’s publicity co-ordinator Jackie Pilkington said: “In a departure from the norm, Studio Theatre, Ashley Road is to stage an American play which was controversial in the 1980s but is not necessarily so today.
“It is in the spirit of the Theatre’s desire to present as wide a range of work as possible for the interest of audiences and as a challenge for the actors.”

In the US at the time, homophobia is rife, and it will be decades before same sex marriages are legalised.
When a straight woman Eva wanders into their midst, romance and drama follows and by the end of the summer, their lives are changed for ever.
The play begins on Monday, October 2 and finishes on Saturday, October 7. Performances start at 7.30pm.
