A NEW gymnastics facility bringing in the best gymnastic coaches in the area opened last week with equipment including asymmetric bars, beams, fast track and vault.
Phoenix Stars Cheerleaders from Old Sarum who competed at the USASF Cheerleading World Championships twice have moved into a new unit at the Centurion Centre and the original unit has become a gymnastics centre.
Salisbury MP John Glen officially opened the new facility on Friday, September 8.
Programme Director, Jane Usher, said “We are so excited to be moving into this new sport and have brought on board the best gymnastics coaches in Salisbury. The ethos of respect, loyalty and hard work are qualities we hope to encourage in all our new gymnasts”.

Gymnastics training starts on Monday, September 11 in Unit 2 Centurion Centre at the Castle Gate Business Park, Old Sarum.
Jane said “We have been so lucky to get funding from both Wiltshire Council, Laverstock and Ford Parish Council and two very generous donations from private individuals who really believe in what we are doing. Their support has made all the difference to getting this club off the ground quickly and will enable the gymnasts to progress at a rapid rate”.

Parkour – an athletic training sport where individuals try to get from one location to another in the fastest and most efficient way is also available.
Head Coach Elly Humphries was “overwhelmed” with the interest from the public and said: “We are always looking for new ways to encourage young people into physical activity and are pleased to see that parkour is something they can engage with”.
There are still places available for cheerleading in age groups 4-6 years and 11-15 years.
