FORMER Deputy Prime Minister Sir David Lidington is to be joined by a panel of experts on a discussion on Britain and Europe at the former home of Sir Edward Heath.

The discussion takes place at Arundells on Monday, September 4, at 7pm.

In addition to the former Deputy Prime Minister, guests include Philip Stephens – Financial Times contributing editor and author of Britain Alone, Sir Stephen Wall – Former UK Permanent Representative to the EU and official historian of Britain in the European Community. Lord Roger Liddle – European Advisor to Tony Blair will also attend.

The panel will discuss what Britain got right and wrong during the years of its membership and what the future holds for Britain’s relationship with Europe.

The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation Peter Batey CMG, OBE, and chair said: “We are delighted to launch an exhibition alongside a series of events at Arundells this autumn."

The exhibition ‘The Long Road into Europe 1950-75’ which charts the history of Britain’s relationship with Europe will be open to for public viewing in The Studio at Arundells.

Pater Batey added: “Sir Edward Heath was extremely passionate about Britain and its relationship with Europe so it is important we mark the half-century since our entry into the European community with this interesting and informative exhibition.”

The exhibition will run from the beginning of September until Arundells closes for the winter in early November.
