THESE people appeared in court for offences committed in and around the city.

The cases were heard at Salisbury Magistrates Court on or after August 18.

James Jewell, 20, of Fairfield Road, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine.

When police officers stopped and searched him at Ashley Road on April 14, 2021, they found 2.5g of cocaine in Jewell's possession and he was arrested.

In an interview at the police station, Jewell made full admissions and claimed the drugs were for his own personal use.

Jewell, representing himself, told the court: "I have changed."

He was ordered to pay £386 to the court and the drugs were destroyed.

Philip Grigg, 40, of Primrose Place, was found possessing 179g of cannabis in Durrington on May 13.

Magistrates sentenced him to a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £85 costs and for the drugs to be destroyed.

Robert McLachlan, 32, of Heath View Drive, criminally damaged a van belonging to Wiltshire Police.

McLachlan was arrested at Whitehill Farm House, Pitton, on April 27 and during his journey to Swindon Police Station he asked to use the toilet but officers refused.

This led to the defendant becoming angry, kicking the van and urinating inside it before going on to spit, trying to force himself to vomit.

McLachlan pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was ordered to pay £230.40 compensation, a £40 fine and a £16 surcharge.

This was added to his outstanding £197 court fine and deducted from his benefits.

Callum Davies, 24, of the Beehive, Amesbury Road, pleaded guilty to driving while over the alcohol limit along Portway.

He was found to have 50 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35.

Magistrates disqualified Davies from driving for 12 months, which can be reduced by three months if he completes an awareness course.

Davies must also pay £1,028 to the court.

Jane Binyon, 53, of St Leonards Farm in Ferndown, pleaded guilty to driving her Peugeot 206 along the A338 while over the alcohol limit on July 13.

The pub landlady was found with 117 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, an "extremely high" level according to Presiding Justice Mr Greenyer.

Binyon had broken down on the main road through Salisbury with a flat tyre.

A passerby who helped the defendant told police she clipped a kerb and they believed she had been drinking.

Binyon failed a roadside breathalyzer test and was arrested but the police did not notice any bad driving.

Magistrates banned her from driving for 28 months, which can be reduced if she completes a driving course.

She was also handed a 12-month community order which included 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days, 120 hours of unpaid work and £299 costs to the court.

Ian Maude, 68, of West Tytherley, drove his Lexus RX 450H along the A30 at Lopcombe without due care and attention on December 15, 2022.

His driving record was endorsed with five penalty points and he must pay £1,379 to the court before September 20.

Joshua Harriss, 33 and of Petherbridge Close, Amesbury, has been ordered to pay £60 for failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order made by Salisbury Magistrates Court on October 28, 2021.
