I was glad to read Victoria Charleston’s report in Councillors’ Corner (August 17) that she had enjoyed her ‘fun’ moment being photographed with fellow councillors alongside the Salisbury Giant at Salisbury Museum to commemorate Charles III’s coronation.

I did too, right down to my stance holding the Giant’s sword, recreating the pose taken up when I brought the Giant from the old museum in St Ann Street to the King’s House in 1981, a historic scene recorded by the Journal more than forty years ago.

The Giant hasn’t aged, which can’t be said of its former curator.
