DOGS helped police detain a man after a crash and find a high-risk missing person in a single day’s work.
Dorset Police’s dog unit was conducting foot patrols around Seaview and Poole Bus Station on Tuesday, August 15.
Officers said residents engaged with them and that no anti-social behaviour in those areas was witnessed.
Later, the unit assisted Poole police responders with an incident in which an individual “ran off” after a road traffic collision.
A Poole Police spokesperson said: “The police dog tracked from the vehicle to the male who was detained by police.
“Finally, they helped out with an extensive area searched for a high-risk missing person in the Verwood area. They were later found safe and well.
“Incredible job from our amazing dog unit.”
Dogs have also recently been used by officers on patrol in Bournemouth town centre as part of its ongoing drive to cut down on evening anti-social behaviour.
