A Salisbury resident has been fined for travelling without a rail ticket on Great Western Railways.

Pillay Sandiren, 28, who lives in Blyth Way, Salisbury travelled on the railway service on Friday, April 28 without paying the fare of £189.85.

The case was held at Bristol Magistrate’s Court and the verdict was proved in his absence.

Pillay Sandiren was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation of £189.85 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £88.

The full balance of £677.85 was ordered to be paid by Monday, August 21.
