A PUB dating back hundreds of years with mixed fortunes in recent times looks like it will be re-opening again very soon.

The building on Winchester Street dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century.

It had a variety of former names, the Running Horse and possibly, the Three Tuns before being established as the Coach and Horses.

It has an entrance gateway and used to have stables for 20 horses.

There was a smoking room, a front bar, a tap room, a kitchen, a brew house, a loft, a coal cellar and on the first floor, a sitting room and six bedrooms.

In 2019, the pub underwent a £400,000 transformation.

Work is currently being carried out on the property and a banner was displayed in the Guildhall Square stating the Coach and Horses is returning to Winchester Street.
