A SERIES of wooden bin stores are in the process of being installed in the city centre with the aim of reducing odours in the hot weather and making the city more attractive for residents and visitors.

The decision for the new storage facilities came after a large number of commercial bins were stored outside of business premises in the city centre, so Wiltshire Council took the decision to install a number of bin stores.

Cabinet member for Street Scene, Cllr Caroline Thomas, had previously stated that businesses had a responsibility to ensure the commercial bins were not out on walkways or pavements.

A large storage facility in dark wood is already positioned in the Market Place next to the water fountain and disabled toilet with the drinks fountain nestled between the new bin storage unit and the disabled toilet. This facility was not installed as part of the Wiltshire Council plan.

It is hoped the 20 new bin storage units will make the city more presentable.
