The Lloyds Bank location in Salisbury will remain closed until August for refurbishment.

The bank closed its doors at 2pm on Friday, June 30, with plans to reopen at 9am on Thursday, August 3.

A notice in the window of the Blue Boar Row bank redirects those needing in-person banking to Lloyds’ location at 22 High Street in Andover. Another nearby location is at 25 High Street in Ringwood.

Simple banking transactions for Lloyds customers can also be carried out at Post Office locations. The nearest Post Office location to Lloyds’ Blue Boar Row building is on High Street just outside the High Street Gate.

Lloyds submitted plans for the refurbishment of the Victorian, Grade II listed building’s ground floor in May and received approval on Friday, June 9.

The oldest part of the Lloyds Bank building is the section which fronts Blue Boar Row and was built in 1869 the portion of the building which sits on the corner of Castle Street and Chipper Lane was a five-bay extension constructed in 1901. The newly completed extension can be seen in photographs from Salisbury’s celebration of King Edward VII’s Coronation in 1902.

Lloyds proposals for the ground floor include new interior finishes, decorations, relocation of the cashier counters and changes to signage.

The first and second floors of the building will not be altered.
