A SALISBURY hairdresser won big at a national competition at her first time of asking.
Victoria Tryhorn, a hairdresser at Smith England on Silver Street, was named Assistant of the Year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2023.
The awards took place in London earlier this week.
One of the biggest nights in British hairdressing, the annual awards ceremony celebrates the people, brands, and businesses that make hairdressing in this country what it is.
The awards, now in their 24th year, feature 17 different categories for achievement, including business director of the year, barbershop of the year, and salon design.
“It’s just quite surreal” Victoria commented on being a part of the ceremony.
Victoria was entered in the category for Assistant of the year, a competitive category among newer faces in the hairdressing industry that recognises talent in future stars.
The panel of judges picked out Victoria, noticing her “demonstrating passion, talent and creativity, as well as a fierce ambition and focus” and named her the winner of her category.
“It’s a big step in my career”, Victoria said about the award and that it would be “life changing.”
Despite it being Victoria’s first ever competition, she excelled in the application and interview, impressing the judges with her work and how she expressed herself.
Planning on staying in Salisbury in the near future, Victoria showed ambition and drive, promising that this is “definitely not the last award” she intends to achieve.
