CITY centre roadworks have caused "unacceptable levels of disruption" to Salisbury's buses.

That's the message from Salisbury Reds manager Andrew Sherrington.

Repairs have been carried out by Openreach and Scottish and Southern Power on Rampart Road and Ashley Road, and there are major roadworks outside the Co-op on Castle Road.

Salisbury Reds is experiencing traffic delays, especially along their routes on Wilton Road, due to the three-way traffic light system in place.

Andrew Sherrington, Salisbury Reds general manager is “urging Wiltshire Council and National Highways to intervene and review all planned works to help reduce these unacceptable levels of disruption.”

Andrew Sherrington has apologised for bus delays: “I’d like to assure those travelling with us that our team is working very hard to minimise the effects of these issues, and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”

Caroline Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport said; “We apologise to motorists and bus users for any inconvenience caused by these temporary roadworks.”

The works on Rampart Road are now finished and the works on Ashley Road will finish today, (Wednesday 28 June), a damaged traffic light in Castle Street has been replaced and works there are also now complete.

The council assure bus users that delays will now ease up due to the completion of the majority of these roadworks.
