The Daily Mail has announced that it will no longer be sponsoring the Chalke Valley History Festival following this year’s event.
A statement issued by festival organisers praised the Daily Mail for its support over the years.
James Holland, chair and co-founder of the Chalke Valley History Festival, said: “We are enormously grateful to the Daily Mail for its unwavering support over the last decade. In particular we would like to thank Lady Rothermere who has been a major champion of the festival since the start.”

The Chalke Valley History Festival began in June 2011 as a fundraiser for the local cricket club. Focussing the event on history was the brainchild of James Heneage, the founder of the defunct bookshop chain Ottakar’s, who has a home in Bowerchalke.
The Daily Mail has been one of the main sponsors of the event for the past ten years, lending its name to the festival, which is officially known as the Daily Mail Chalke Valley History Festival. Other sponsors include cruise line Noble Caledonia, law firm Trethowans, auctioneers Woolley & Wallis, History Hit, the Journal of the American Revolution, Savills and Waterstones.
This year’s Chalke Valley History Festival will take place from Monday, June 26 to Sunday, July 2, with adult day tickets ranging from £14 to £27.50, depending on the day, and children’s tickets ranging from £7 to £13.75.
