HE'S the New Forest guitar teacher turned 'rock god' making headlines across the pond after wowing on America's Got Talent.
John Wines, 59, of The Burgate School in Fordingbridge made it through to judges' deliberations after impressing with his rendition of Queen anthem, We Will Rock You.
Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Madel unanimously voted 'yes,' sending John through to deliberations where the judges will consider which of the acts continue to the live semi-finals.
Now The Burgate School has shared its excitement for John with staff and pupils throwing their support behind him.
Headteacher, David Pover said: “This was such exciting news, we are delighted for John and Team Burgate are fully behind him.
“We know John is a fantastic teacher but were less aware of his rock god alter-ego!
“John is an inspiration to us all but particularly for our students who will learn from the commitment he has clearly shown to his craft and the bravery he has shown by entering such a huge competition.”
He added: “Everyone at The Burgate is rooting for John.”
John, who is known as Old Grey Guitarist, has amassed more than one million followers on TikTok.
John said he decided to apply for America's Got Talent prove to a student who struggles with performance nerves that he was prepared to push himself out of his comfort zone.
He only discovered his invitation to take part in the first audition by chance after it had languished in his junk folder for two days.
