CONSTRUCTION of 64 new homes has begun and pupils were invited to mark the start of the build.

Developer Pennyfarthing Homes broke ground at its new development on the edge of Fordingbridge on June 12.

Pupils from Fordingbridge Infant and Junior Schools Federation were invited to mark the major milestone.

Bertie Eaton, Jessica Holley, Orin Morgan and Lily Newland were joined by land and planning director Ben Arnold and sales and marketing director Sheetal Smith to officially start construction on the site.

The first phase of Whitsbury Green will see 64 new homes new homes built, including two, three and four bedroom houses and bungalows.

Head teacher Kim Robertson said: “It was a lovely gesture by Pennyfarthing to invite us to mark this milestone at Whitsbury Green. I know all the children enjoyed the event and found learning about how houses are built very interesting.”

Detailed property plans are now available to prospective buyers for the first time for plots available this winter.

Pennyfarthing is anticipating its four-bedroom show home will be ready for viewing at the end of October. 

Sales and marketing director Sheetal Smith, at Pennyfarthing, was "delighted" the children were able to join them to mark the start of the flagship development.

She added: “We look forward to enjoying a long association with the school and are planning a number of initiatives going forward including inviting the pupils back to visit our show home later in the year.”
