A popular hotel that has been closed for nearly a year has found a new owner who has exciting plans for the venue.
The Cathedral Hotel, on Milford Street, was a big part of Salisbury’s nightlife before it closed in July 2022.
A new owner has now bought the historic hotel and intends to bring back a jazz band and create a roof terrace, with panoramic views of Salisbury’s skyline.

The owner, who wishes to remain private, has said that he remembers the venue as being home to the jazz club when he was a teenager and plans to make a significant investment into the hotel.
Developments are being overseen and discussed by Salisbury’s conservation officers, in order to retain and restore historical features of the hotel, such as a stunning central staircase.
The Cathedral Hotel had previously been a popular venue as part of Salisbury’s nightlife, with a ground-floor bar and patio garden. The second and third floors of the hotel had 22 bedrooms.

A significant investment is set to be made to the building, with roof terrace plans subject to planning permission.
Chris Bickle, from Savills, has said: “We are delighted to secure new owners for The Cathedral Hotel which has been closed since July 2022.
“The new owners have exciting plans to bring this property back into hospitality use for the benefit for the local community. The sale reinforces the demand for commercial assets with strong underlying property fundamentals in the South West.”
A date for reopening has not yet been confirmed.
