Former Top Gear star James May has admitted to driving a Ferrari through Wiltshire “like a t***er”.
The former BBC presenter, who now co-hosts Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour, has been branded Captain Slow in the past by co-presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
But May recently joked that he had been zooming round the county, in which he bought a pub three years ago, in a sports car.
The 60-year-old made the joke on Twitter after another user seemed to question his driving skills.
They said: “Was you driving an Aston Martin through Greater Manchester last weekend?
“If so, you drive like a w***er.”
May replied: “No, last weekend I was driving a Ferrari through Wiltshire like a t***er.”
The exchange came after May admitted to his 3.2 million followers that he had destroyed a man’s fence after a mishap in his Land Rover over the weekend.
He tweeted: “I just reversed my Land Rover into a man’s fence, broke it, and he hadn’t even finished building it yet. He was surprisingly decent about it all.”
May received a large reaction to the post on Twitter, with many making jokes referencing his famously cautious driving.
One user said: “The damage had to be minimal…Captain Slow.”
