PARENTS have been fined for driving in a restricted area to drop their children off at school.
Wiltshire police dished out a number of fixed penalty notices to drivers who breached a traffic regulation order in Saxon Road and Hollows Close, Harnham.
This order makes it illegal to drive without a permit on these two roads from Monday through to Friday.
The "proactive" exercise from the police took place on Wednesday morning, May 24, and targeted parents dropping their children off at Harnham Infant and Junior School as well as Puddleducks Nursery.
PC Lucas posted on Salisbury Police's Facebook page.
He said: “We would like to remind all parents to be extra mindful around where they are dropping children off.
“These restrictions are in place for the safety and well-being of all school children and their families making their way to and from their schools.
“We would like to thank the public for their understanding."
Officers from the Salisbury unit also took the opportunity to greet families on their way to school as a way of engaging with the local community.
