EMERGENCY rescue staff who have been in the service for decades were recognised at an annual awards ceremony.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service held its annual awards ceremony on Thursday, May 18, at Tidworth Garrison Theatre.
The event recognised both firefighters and managers achieving 20, 30 and 40 years of public service.
There were also presentations of Chief Fire Officer’s Commendations, recognising exemplary conduct above and beyond the call of duty, and a number of other awards.
Long Service and Good Conduct Medals and Clasps were presented to staff by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Angus Campbell, and the Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Luke March.
Retired firefighter Simon Davies, retired watch manager Neil McConchie and serving crew manager Rich Plaskett were among those in Salisbury recognised for 30 years of service.
Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said the ceremony is a wonderful way to bring people together, adding: "As well as recognising the achievements of our staff, it is always an opportunity to give personal thanks to the families and friends who have supported them and the work of our Service.
"It is often this support that has enabled the quite outstanding achievements to take place.”
