LONG traffic delays are affecting motorists travelling on Castle Road due to emergency works.
Gas company SGN has installed temporary traffic lights while engineers work on the A345 Castle Road near Butts Road.
Mile-long traffic queues from Castle Roundabout northward are to be expected while the repairs take place.
Stratford Road is also affected by long queues of drivers heading southbound as they try to avoid traffic on the main road.
The traffic lights were first reported at 2pm on Monday, May 1.
Spokesperson Dan Brown from SGN said: "We were called to a property in Castle Road over the weekend following reports of a gas leak.
"Our engineers discovered a broken section of our network but have since carried out a full repair to the affected pipes.
"Temporary traffic lights were installed around our site to ensure everyone’s safety. These lights remain in operation while we complete the required reinstatement work here."
