FOLLOWING a care home inspection, a 'good' rating highlighted the 'friendly and respectful way' a dementia care team interacted with residents and their families.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited Avon Court - a specialist dementia care home run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) which is a part of Avonbourne Care Centre in Old Sarum.

The inspection took place in March this year and the report assessed that the care home is both safe and well-led by the care team with residents supported and with maximum choice and control of their lives.

Area operations manager for Avon Court, Linda Knifton, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the results of our inspection. To be rated Good in the areas inspected is fantastic.

"We have a strong team at Avon Court and they have worked really hard to get to where they are now. It is a testament to their efforts that the CQC has awarded this Good rating.”

The CQC report also noted that the team had developed good relationships with community organisations and health and social care professionals.

The OSJCT received a “Top 20 Care Home Group” Award in the Large Care Home Group category of Carehome.co.uk’s 2023 Awards.
