N ENTERPRISE challenge gave students across the country the opportunity to participate in a design competition and a Salisbury school has been shortlisted.

The brief given to the students was ‘place and how it affects the external environment and how the environment affects you.’

South Wilts Grammar School made it into the top ten out of 280 schools for their 'texture turtles' design which is a sensory toy made of recycled materials and it is designed to help users manage their anxiety levels.

Head of Learning at the Design Museum, Stella Fong said: "All our judges were so impressed by the ingenuity and research that has been put into the 2022-23  shortlisted entries.

"These students have worked together as professional design teams, to meet a real-life brief, to design a product for the Design Museum Shop. Design Ventura is proud to support young people in developing key skills in creativity, teamwork and enterprise that support futures in design and beyond.”

The challenge was set by architect and co-founder of Black Females in Architecture, Selasi Setufe and the competition gave students hands-on design experience while learning collaboration, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Other guest judges included the Editor at London Design Festival and London Design Biennale, Sujata Burman and Sebastian Conran - Designer and Design Museum Trustee, Preena Patel - Buying and Merchandising Manager at the Design Museum and Chief Marketing Officer for Deutsche Bank's Corporate Bank Division, Christoph Woermann.

The overall winning design will be developed for manufacture and sale in the Design Museum Shop in London for about £15.
