A SALISBURY-born university student has won an annual short-film competition.
Ollie Trowern and his friends Benjamin Phillips and Benjamin Dunks were victorious in Portsmouth’s annual short-film festival after submitting a four-minute movie called “where did we park”, which follows two young men who become lost in the woods after parking their car.
The comedic short film impressed the judges, who described the trio’s work as “the most innovative out of all the films, a very funny concept and well-executed”.
The event was held in front of more than 100 people in the No6 Cinema, located in Portsmouth’s historic dockyard, where the winners received a hand-crafted award, made by local artist James Waterfield, as well as a £75 pizza express voucher.
The Winchester students said: “It was great to be a part of something where we were able to exhibit work which we are very proud of and excited about. It’s an incredible experience being recognised for the hard work we put into Where Did We Park? and it's an exciting start to our careers as filmmakers”.
Winchester University also released a statement commending the efforts of the students.
The university’s film production course leader Rob Ferrin said: “All students and staff from the Film Production course were incredibly excited to be part of the Making Waves Film Festival this year”.
