A MAN punched a Range Rover wing mirror then put his fist through the glass panel of a front door after losing his dog.

Daniel Newton, of Essex Square in Harnham, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage at a Salisbury Magistrates' Court hearing on Tuesday, March 28.

Police received a call on September 31, 2022, from a Netherhampton Road resident who said two men were on the road causing a disturbance.

29-year-old Newton was one of the two men and he was spotted shouting while the other man tried to calm him down.

He was more upset than angry but was under the influence of alcohol, the court heard.

Holly Fagan, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "[The resident] saw him trying to rip a gate off the hinges. Then he ran up and punched the glass in the pane of the door.

"Police found the two males fighting amongst themselves in the garden and Newton was rambling about how he lost a dog."

Defending, duty solicitor William Griffiths said: "Mr Newton can’t really put much flesh on the bones of what happened.

"Knew he was going out of his mind about his lost dog. He would like to apologise."

He was ordered to pay £174.80 to Sarah Jessica Black for the door and £30 to Aaron Dymott for the wing mirror.

Court costs and a victim surcharge were waived due to Newton receiving universal credit.
