ORGANISERS of Salisbury Live have applied for permission to use Victoria Park as a venue to host the event this year.

The new premises license application was submitted on March 3 by the Immersive Group, which also owns the former Wilding restaurant, Tinga, Deacons, Caboose and the Frost Bar.

Since the group anticipates more than 500 people at the event, the application had to be submitted to Wiltshire Council to allow for alcohol to be sold.

Salisbury Live champions local bands and is run by Colin Holton. There are multiple events throughout the year.

Director Dave Hancock, from the Immersive Group, said the proposed football pitch site would be the "perfect" place to host Salisbury Live.

He added: "Victoria Park has not been used like this for some time and we think it is a great space."

In previous years Salisbury Live in the Market Square has had to be held on either Friday or Sunday to avoid the Charter Market.

But this year Dave and Colin want to hold the event on a Saturday to fully realise their vision for live music in the city.

Notices have been placed in Victoria Park letting people know about the application which has sparked the spread of misinformation on social media.

The licensing application follows a recent leasing opportunity to replace the Wood Bar site in the park.

However, the Immersive Group has confirmed that it did not apply to lease the coffee kiosk and any events would need further permission, even if licensing was granted.

The deadline for Wiltshire Council to decide on the premises application is March 31.
