Police have placed a cordon around an area near the River Avon, near Ashley Road, Salisbury as a precaution - following the discovery of two suspected historic munitions by a magnet fisher.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is currently at the site to make an assessment.
Salisbury Police said: "We ask that members of the public avoid the area and respect the cordon that has been put in place for public safety.
UPDATE:
Police said in a statement at approximately 2.07pm that the items, believed to date from World War II, were found not to contain any explosives and there is no risk to the public.
