A FREE repair and maintenance service to increase bike safety for children will take place in the Salisbury Market Place next week.
From punctures to gear issues or general maintenance, the mechanics from Rise 61’s bike hub will be ready. In 2022, the team fixed more than 25 children’s bicycles in one day.

Manager of the Bike Hub, Simon Bower, said: “We love helping people of all ages get out and about on their bikes and we’re really happy to be involved in this bike repair event. We had a great time being part of the previous event last year and it was wonderful seeing so many people happily ride off on newly repaired bikes.”
Parts that cost up to £15 and labour are free for all Salisbury City residents, as long as they book a free slot.

COGS – the Cycling Opportunities Group in Salisbury supports the needs of cyclists in the city and organises a number of events to give people more access to an active lifestyle.
Councillor Alan Bayliss, who is a part of the COGS group, also took the time to roll up his sleeves and help last year. He said: It was hugely rewarding to see the children’s beaming smiles once their bikes had been repaired and were rideable again.
“The freedom, joy and independence that a bike gives is fantastic and I’d like to add my thanks to the team from COGS and Rise61 for giving up their time.”
