A woman was airlifted to hospital and three children were hurt in a six-vehicle crash in Wiltshire.
The incident happened on the A346 road between Ogbourne St George and Chiseldon on Wednesday afternoon.
A section of the major road was closed at around 2.30pm and the emergency services arrived in large numbers.
An air ambulance also attended the scene and took the woman to Great Western Hospital.
The children are not believed to have suffered serious injuries.
A Wiltshire Police statement said: “We responded to three road traffic collisions on the A346 involving six vehicles between Ogbourne St George and Chiseldon around 2.30pm yesterday (January 18).
“One woman was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life changing or threatening.
“Three children were also treated for minor injuries.
“The road was closed for around five hours.”
Eyewitnesses at the scene said that the air ambulance was called to the scene at just after 3pm.
This stayed for over an hour before departing, with the road remaining closed for most of the remainder of Wednesday.
