Phone and internet services have been disrupted for around 600 customers in the Bishopdown area following a crash on London Road
The crash at the Bishopdown Farm Roundabout on Monday, January 9, saw one of the vehicles involved hit a metal cabinet containing telecommunication equipment operated by Openreach.
An Openreach spokesperson said: “Our engineers have been working hard to repair a cabinet at the Bishopdown Farm roundabout which was hit by a car and seriously damaged on 9 January, affecting broadband and phone services to around 600 customers on copper-based infrastructure.
“We attended and made the area safe, but repairs of this nature are complex. We’re working hard to get everyone back online but don’t yet have an expected completion date.
“We understand how frustrating this must be for anyone who is affected; we encourage anyone experiencing any disruption with their phone or broadband service to report it to their service provider who will then inform us.”
The Journal understands the disruption could last up to eight weeks.
