Queen Elizabeth Gardens has flooded after the River Avon burst its banks.

Following a spell of rainy weather, water has collected in a park in Salisbury.

A flood warning for Groundwater flooding is still in place for the Ebble Valley,  including Berwick St John, Ebblesbourne Wake, Bowerchalke, Broad Chalke, Stoke Farthing, Bishopstone, Stratford Toney, Coombe Bissett, Homington, Odstock, and Nunton.

Councillor Jeremy Nettle, of the Fisherton and Bemerton Village ward, captured the scenes in the city centre this morning (January 9).

He shared the images on social media and stated that flooding is "exactly what water meadows and parks are meant to do".

Cllr Nettle told the Journal: "My point is that we do need these parks, open spaces, and water meadows to take the amount of water we're having.

"It plays against more local development in Salisbury."
