SALISBURY Hospice Charity is once again running its Christmas Tree Collection campaign.

The charity is running the scheme in conjunction with Just Helping.

The campaign runs from 8am on Friday, January 13 and Sunday, January 15.

Just Helping was formed in 2012 by Nick Stammers who was inspired by the collection of Christmas trees and the coming together of the community in Prestbury, Cheshire in 2010.

The charity organises community events for fundraising, and works with hospices, charities, community groups and businesses but the flagship event is the annual National Christmas Tree Collection.

Development manager Tom Laverty said: “JustHelping supports volunteers, businesses, and charities to contribute to their community and the environment.

“Our Christmas Tree Collection provides a hassle-free way of disposing of your real tree. It is both great for the environment and a fantastic opportunity for you to donate money to a local charity. We are immensely proud to be working in partnership with Salisbury Hospice which does amazing work for the Salisbury community.”

The charity has raised over £3,850,000 since 2012. Donations provide vital funds for charities and hospices that are caring for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and the charity has more than 1760 volunteers.

Volunteers will be collecting trees in the SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4, SP5, SP6, SP7 and SP9. Decorations, bases, and pots must be removed.

After costs, 90 per cent of the money raised will go to Salisbury Hospice Charity. The remaining 10 per cent will be distributed to other charities.

Trees are shredded and used by farmers, turned into compost, or used as alpaca food or scratching posts.
