A MAN who was left "covered in blood" after a bottle was thrown at his head in a Salisbury nightclub said it has put a "permanent end" to his clubbing days and is calling for change.
Kristian Price, of Andover, was at The Chapel Nightclub celebrating his friend's birthday on Saturday, December 10, when the incident took place.
The 43-year-old was standing at the side of the dancefloor while the party was just getting going when he felt a "massive blow" to the back of his head.
Mr Price said: "There was glass everywhere, all over the floor, and I felt vulnerable.
"My face was covered in blood, it was like a scene out of a scary movie. There was blood everywhere."
He was taken to the medical room inside the club where he was treated with first aid by staff.
CCTV footage from the night was checked but the individual who allegedly threw the bottle has not been identified.
Wiltshire Police was called to the scene at 12.30am on December 11 and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
Mr Price claims officers advised him to go to A&E but he decided not to, saying: "By that time the bleeding had stopped so I wanted to judge it for myself the next morning."
Sean Cullen, site director at The Chapel, said: "On Saturday evening, a customer was struck with an unidentified object. First aid was given at the time.
"The venue operates with SIA badged security and CCTV.
"Customer safety is our priority and we will support the authorities with any assistance they may need."
Mr Cullen also confirmed that the venue does sell glass bottles, but added that all drinks glasses are polycarbonate plastic.
Two months before the incident, Mr Price had to wait five hours in A&E after he fell off a ladder and split his head open, and he said he didn't want to go through that again.
"This whole experience has put a permanent end to my nightclubbing days and I worry that future incidents could be more severe if the venue does not make changes that benefit the safety of their customers," he added.
Mr Price is now calling on The Chapel to stop serving glass bottles in order to prevent another incident from happening.
He is also calling for better CCTV cameras so that offenders can be caught.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We have received a report of an assault at Chapel Nightclub at approximately 12.30am on December 11 – a man in his 40s sustained a cut to his head after it is believed a glass bottle was thrown.
"Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220129990."
