Now residents of the tight-knit community say they want to know the truth.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It's horrible but until we know the truth we can't speculate.
"We thought it was a drug raid, we've never had a murder around here.
"This sort of stuff doesn't happen on Tournament Road."
The road has been a hub of activity since, with crime scene investigators, dog units and search teams carrying out work at the house.
Recalling the surprise of seeing a "riot van" and "dog units" parked near the house, the resident added: "The neighbours came outside to watch.
"Buses were going past and people on the top floor were looking out to see what was going on."
On Thursday, November 3 police had left the scene on Tournament Road.
"We just want to know the truth," added the resident.
Other people have taken to social media to express their sadness.
Tina Baker posted on the Salisbury Journal Facebook page: "How terrible, poor little baby."
Another posted on a Salisbury community group: "This is absolutely horrifying, but at least the police are doing their jobs. Rest in peace little angel."
Enquiries into the death continue.
