FIREFIGHTERS put out a fire at a derelict building in St Leonards yesterday evening.
Crews from Ferndown and Ringwood attended the fire in Hurn Road, which runs alongside the A338, in St Leonards.
The fire in the derelict building had cylinders involved. Firefighters waited for the cylinders to vent and when safe to do so extinguished the derelict building using two hose reel jets and a main line.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the fire at 6.32pm on Tuesday, October 25.
A spokeswoman for DWFRS said: "We were called to Hurn Road, St Leonards and St Ives at 6.32pm last night for a derelict wooden cabin well alight.
"Two crews attended, from Ferndown and Ringwood, together with a water carrier from Ringwood. Two hose reel jets and a main jet were used and the stop was at 8.03pm, with everyone away from the scene by 8.45pm.
"A crew from Ferndown have been back out this morning for a planned reinspection, and dealt with a couple of hot spots."
