A PROJECT that helps people access low-cost food has put a pause on its memberships due to increased demand.
Your Salisbury Pantry said it is desperately seeking to increase supplies and put out a plea for people to step forward as volunteers.
The shop located on Catherine Street opened in April 2021 but since then, demand has increased greatly and many residents have benefitted from access to low-cost, donated, grant-funded food.
In September, the shop helped support 649 people with members receiving goods worth an average of £20 - £30 for the £5 membership.

Salisbury City Council’s community manager, Sarah Gregson said: “The good news is that we have been able to help support 649 people in the last month, including 283 children. It is a privilege to support all those people in balancing the demands on their income and now we need to rise to the real challenge of keeping up with demand.”
The council’s communities team has announced a pause in accepting new members and has put out a call to residents and businesses of Salisbury to help extend the capacity of Your Pantry this winter.
