Wiltshire councillors are being recommended to approve plans for 106 homes on land north of Netherhampton Road.

The planning meeting has been moved from Trowbridge to Salisbury after lobbying by Harnham West ward city councillor Annie Riddle.

And she urged residents not to give up on their opposition.

She said: “I am really grateful that the committee chairman listened to me and moved this meeting in view of the proposed development’s potential impact on the city as well as on Netherhampton and Quidhampton.

“The swathe of new housing along Netherhampton Road was by far the biggest single issue in last year’s election campaign for me. I couldn’t count the number of people who asked me if we could get it stopped.

“Although it is recommended for approval I would urge people not to give up, but to attend the meeting and voice their concerns so that if we have to have this development, we can influence the planners to make it as acceptable as possible.”

The meeting is on Wednesday, October 5 at 10.30am at Salisbury & South Wilts Sports Club, Wilton Road. The city council has objected.
