A RESCUED dog has inspired his owners to launch a fundraising drive for an operation to stop him getting arthritis.

One-year-old Paddy was saved after being aban doned on the streets of London. The collie cross has already had one hip replaced but needs a second operation costing £8,000.

Owners Tara Harris, 39, and her husband Jason, 37, from St Ives have decided to hold a fun dog show to give the little dog a new lease of life.

Mrs Harris said: "He is such a lovely dog. He loves people and other dogs but by the time he is four he'd probably have to be put down if he didn't have these operations. Since the first operation the difference in him is amazing. It has really improved his quality of life."

The Winter Woolies dog show is to be held at the St Ives and St Leonard's Village Hall on March 1, with fun contests including the fastest biscuit eater and the best winter coat.

Entries are from 10am with judging starting at 11am. Anyone can come along on the day and for more information and a list of classes call Mr and Mrs Harris on 01425 470841.
