FOLLOWING the success of the first Hampshire Police plodcast' the force now has a second online.

So far there have been more than 700 full downloads of the first plodcast', and it is thought at least 1,000 others have listened to at least part of it since its launch just under four weeks ago.

The second plodcast is about the Front Office Design Competition held by police in Portsmouth that could influence how the reception areas of police stations across Hampshire are designed in the future.

Year three BA (Hons) Interior Design students at the University of Portsmouth and year one National Diploma students at Highbury were given a brief to design a new look for a front office at one of the city's four stations: Fratton, Southsea, Cosham or Portsmouth Central.

The project not only had to improve the look of the front offices, but also be functional, and students were required to consider the volume of visitors to police stations in Portsmouth, and also the variety or purposes these visits may have, all to be catered for in their final designs.

The winning ideas are now being put forward as part of a force wide review of front offices and could influence their eventual design.

In this latest plodcast Portsmouth's Media and Corporate Communications Manager, Ian Sainsbury, a former radio journalist, goes along to the competition's awards night at Spinnaker Tower to find out more.
